Vanek only has more value because most teams dont need a starting goalie, if they did bryzgalov is still available. The only teams i can see needing a starter Calgary now that Kipper retired, Edmonton, Florida, washington, and maaaybe the pens if they finally pull the trigger on ridden themselves of Fleury, but that would mean someone would wanna take him haha |

Vanek to EDM for Gagner and Paajarvi (both RFAs) It doesn't sound like they have room for Paajarvi where he should be playing so it would really just be dumping salary if EDM thought Vanek would resign after this year.
Miller to VAN for Luongo- they each get a change of scenery and BUFF can use 2nd buyout on Luongo if necessary. Not sure VAN would require that Miller be extended first or ?
Pretty much a $ for $ wash for BUFF, savings for VAN and some well spent $, although not tons, for EDM. |

Neither trade makes sense. Edmonton is not shopping Paajarvi, nor should they. Vancouver just traded the goalie they wanted and settled on the goalie they didn't. Why trade for almost the same guy?
Do we have to buyout Luongo twice? We haven't used 1 buyout. No need for Luongo to use the 2nd one. |

Maybe Washington goaltending coach can teach him how not to give up Massive rebounds . That is what is keeping him in the AHL. |

Didn't the Sabres buyout Gerbe? If so, that would leave one buyout left. |

it wasn't one of the 2 compliance buyouts, it was a buyout after he went through waivers. I'm still confused on it, but to my understanding it doesn't count as one of the 2.
I think it was because his contract wasn't high enough value or something. |

Gerbe's buyout gives the team a credit against the cap this year and next year costs $300K. Compliance buyouts don't hit your cap at all. |

How can you put john scott and mike weber in the same category as kaleta. Kaleta draws a TON of penalties and is also one of our best penalty killers John Scott is gone way before kaleta IMO |

And if Queen had balls, she'd be King...
Gagner and MPS from Oilers for Vanek, would be an awesome return for Buffalo, so good in fact, I don't think the Oilers would make that deal...
Although its much more realistic than some Sabres fans were saying in another thread that it would take Eberle or Yakupov PLUS the Oilers 1st for Vanek... |
